Over 588,00 people call Anne Arundel County home due to the area’s quality of life on the Chesapeake Bay. AA County is very close to Baltimore and Washington, DC. The county has diverse communities, numerous attractions, and educational as well as employment opportunities. The county is Maryland’s fourth most populated county and is located in central Maryland. It is bordered north by Baltimore City, to the east by the Chesapeake Bay, to the south by Calvert County, to the west by the Patuxent River, Prince George’s, and Howard counties. AA County’s government is led by a county executive along with a seven-member county council.
With over 500 miles of shoreline, AA County is known for fabulous boating, fishing, crabbing, water skiing, sailing, and swimming. There are two state parks, for the nature lover, with over 120 county parks, and several nature preserves. These are great places to hike, take the dogs, swim, or just relax. Quiet Waters Park is one of the best parks in the county with playgrounds and trails for walking. At one point in the park, you can see Harness Creek. The most famous city in the county is Annapolis which is the state capital of Maryland and home to the US Naval Academy. It is a great place to enjoy the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. Take a day trip to downtown Annapolis and enjoy many great restaurants, shopping, and architecture. Walk along the infamous “Ego Alley” and enjoy the boats that come into the harbor. The city is also home to the oldest college in town which is St. John’s College, founded in 1696 as King William’s School. Some of the more desired cities in Anne Arundel County are Annapolis, Crofton, Davidsonville, Riva, and Edgewater as well as Pasadena and Glen Burnie.
